WeRide Launches WePilot AiDrive

WeRide introduces WePilot AiDrive, a one-stage end-to-end ADAS for mass production in 2025. Partnered with Bosch, it offers human-like driving, scalability, and rapid improvements for safer, efficient assisted driving worldwide.

WeRide, a global leader in autonomous driving technology, has unveiled WePilot AiDrive, a one-stage end-to-end ADAS solution. Developed in partnership with leading Tier 1 supplier Bosch, this innovation integrates sensing and decision-making into a single architecture, allowing vehicles to “see and act” simultaneously like a skilled human driver. This results in faster responses, shorter driving routes, and greater fault tolerance. The system has completed core function validation and is targeted for mass production and vehicle deployment in 2025, aiming to deliver smarter, more efficient assisted driving worldwide.

Key Highlights

  • One-stage architecture: Combines sensing and decision-making for human-like performance, unlike traditional two-stage processes.
  • Complex scenario handling: Navigates lane changes in heavy traffic, detours around unplanned construction, unprotected turns at intersections, smooth acceleration when following vehicles, and interactions with pedestrians, oncoming vehicles, and roadside obstacles on narrow urban roads.
  • Scalable computing: Operates on high-performance platforms and scales to mid- and low-power setups via model distillation, with proprietary middleware decoupling algorithms from hardware.
  • Sensor adaptability: Supports pure vision and multi-sensor fusion setups.
  • Rapid iteration: Uses extensive driving data to generate training labels automatically, improving performance in edge cases and long-tail scenarios—the more it drives, the better it performs.
  • Human-like Level 2 autonomy: Delivers robust safety across diverse driving conditions, redefining the user experience.

Advantages of One-Stage End-to-End Design

The WePilot AiDrive stands out by streamlining the ADAS process. Traditional systems separate sensing from decision-making, but this integrated approach enhances efficiency. It runs on scalable computing power, enabling quick adaptation to various hardware platforms. The proprietary middleware ensures seamless integration, while modular Level 2 functions speed up deployment and mass production. This design not only simplifies operations but also reduces costs, making advanced assisted driving more accessible.

In terms of sensor configurations, the system offers flexibility. It accommodates both pure vision and multi-sensor fusion, allowing manufacturers to choose based on their needs. This adaptability broadens its application across different vehicle types and markets.

Another core strength is its rapid daily iteration capability. By leveraging vast amounts of driving data, WePilot AiDrive automatically creates training labels. This process continuously refines the system, boosting its ability to handle rare or challenging scenarios. As a result, performance improves over time, fulfilling the promise of a solution that evolves with usage.

Performance in Real-World Scenarios

Engineered for urban and highway challenges, WePilot AiDrive excels in demanding environments. For instance, it manages lane changes amid heavy traffic with precision. The system can detour around unexpected construction sites without disruption. At intersections, it executes unprotected turns safely.

When following other vehicles, it provides smooth acceleration to maintain optimal flow. In narrow roads typical of urban villages, it navigates complex interactions involving pedestrians, oncoming traffic, and obstacles along the roadside. These capabilities ensure a safer, more reliable driving experience.
