HL Klemove and Lenovo have signed a strategic partnership to jointly develop high-performance AI computing (HPC) solutions for vehicles, structured in three phases running from development through order acquisition to mass production. Executives from both companies signed the agreement on September 8 at Lenovo’s R&D Center in Shanghai, China. HL Klemove, HL Group’s autonomous driving solutions specialist, will lead global OEM business development and mass-production activities, while Lenovo contributes its autonomous driving controller design capabilities.

How Will the Partnership Be Structured?
The collaboration proceeds in phases. The first phase centers on jointly developing HPC solutions for vehicles. A second phase targets securing orders from OEMs, and a third phase moves the resulting products into mass production.
HL Klemove will lead OEM business development and manufacturing, drawing on what the company describes as an established customer network, local market expertise, and global production capabilities. Its ADAS business dates to 2012, and the company reports accumulated mass-production expertise in sensing and control components for Level 2 and Level 2+ ADAS systems. Those products are built across plants in South Korea, China, India, and North America.
Combined with its system integration capabilities and more than 2,700 patents, HL Klemove aims to strengthen its position in the global automotive computing and ADAS market through the Lenovo collaboration. The company outlined its global localization strategy for those production bases in 2022.
What Does Lenovo Bring?
Lenovo’s contribution is autonomous driving controller design. The company previously introduced its AD1 L4 domain controller as it entered vehicle computing, and it is now positioning automotive computing as an extension of its broader AI computing business.
“By combining HL Klemove’s technological expertise, sales capabilities, and production capacity with Lenovo’s advanced autonomous driving controller design capabilities, we will sharpen our competitive edge in the global market,” said Yun Haeng Lee, President of HL Klemove. “Through this partnership, we will accelerate the development of differentiated automotive computing solutions that meet the evolving needs of global OEM customers.”
“Lenovo is expanding its AI computing business into automotive computing, with a focus on Level 4 autonomous driving and ADAS,” said Peter Xu, Vice President and head of Lenovo’s automotive computing business. He added that HL Klemove’s manufacturing capabilities and global supply network would accelerate Lenovo’s entry into new markets.
The Shanghai signing was attended by HL Klemove President Yun Haeng Lee, CTO Dae Gun Hong, and CMO Sung Kug Kim, alongside Lenovo Vice President Peter Xu and COO Nix Luo.
