Lucid Group and Bolt plan to deploy at least 25,000 fully autonomous Lucid vehicles across multiple European cities and countries under a strategic partnership announced this week. The program pairs Lucid Group‘s software-defined vehicle platform with Bolt’s European operating data, infrastructure, and mobility expertise, and the companies describe it as a major step toward Bolt’s stated goal of 100,000 autonomous vehicles on its platform by 2035. The companies report the vehicles will be built on Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform and designed for SAE Level 4 operation.

What Does the Lucid-Bolt Partnership Cover?
The companies will work together from the product-development stage on an autonomous driving system (ADS)-ready vehicle platform designed for SAE Level 4 autonomous mobility. Vehicles will come from Lucid’s upcoming Midsize platform, with Bolt’s European data and operating experience informing the co-design of both the vehicle and its software.

Lucid Midsize Platform and NVIDIA Hyperion
The platform is expected to utilize NVIDIA Hyperion, which the companies describe as a production-ready autonomous vehicle reference architecture and development platform combining high-performance compute with a standardized sensor suite. Lucid has not disclosed a production timeline, pricing, or vehicle specifications for the Midsize-based autonomous variant.
How Will Bolt Operate the Autonomous Fleet?
Bolt Autonomous Driving Solutions, the company’s dedicated autonomous-driving unit, will lead the partnership on the Bolt side. Its role runs from product development through commercial operation:
- Vehicle requirements: Helping define vehicle specifications for autonomous vehicles operating on the Bolt platform
- Software, safety, and rider experience: Setting the parameters for those functions
- Fleet infrastructure: Building the operating systems, depots, and city partnerships needed to deploy at scale
- Ownership: Bolt intends to own and operate the fleet itself
According to Bolt, the unit works with vehicle manufacturers, autonomous-driving technology providers, cities, and regulators to co-design, integrate, and scale Level 4 autonomous mobility in Europe.
Lucid Technologies Leads on the Automaker Side
At Lucid, the partnership will be led by the newly established Lucid Technologies. The company says the unit brings its artificial intelligence, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), autonomy, and broader digital functions together under a unified structure to develop and commercialize Lucid’s technology beyond its consumer vehicles.
Regulatory Path in Europe
Lucid and Bolt say they will work with autonomous-driving technology partners, European regulators, and policymakers to support the introduction of autonomous mobility services across the region. The companies frame the European focus as a way to meet the region’s vehicle, technology, and regulatory requirements. No launch cities, first-deployment dates, or investment figures were disclosed.
