Global technology company Valeo has been selected by a European premium automaker to supply its advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) for a future vehicle platform. The deal will see Valeo provide its Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) system for Level 2 driving and parking functions, with production scheduled to commence in 2026. This partnership highlights a significant step in democratizing vehicle safety through innovative and affordable solutions.
Key Highlights
- A major European premium original equipment manufacturer (OEM) has selected Valeo to supply its advanced driver-assistance system.
- The agreement is for the Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) system, which will support L2 driving and parking functionalities.
- Full-scale production is slated to begin in 2026.
- The system is a cost-optimized solution that integrates Valeo’s own radars, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to enhance vehicle safety and driver assistance.
A Scalable, Cost-Effective Safety Solution
The Valeo Smart Safety 360 is engineered as a turnkey ADAS solution that offers best-in-class performance in a scalable package. Its design allows automakers to optimize costs by reducing the need for multiple individual Electronic Control Units (ECUs) with minimal impact on the vehicle’s architecture. This flexibility enables the system to scale from fulfilling basic EU General Safety Regulation (GSR) requirements up to providing advanced Level 2+ functions.
Valeo’s commitment to global safety standards is further demonstrated as the system is also built to comply with the U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 127. By meeting these stringent regulations, the VSS360 system aims to reduce accidents, improve driver assistance, and pave the way for more autonomous vehicles.
Integrated Technology for Performance
For the European OEM, Valeo will deliver a system that ensures high performance and reliability through its own integrated hardware and software. The setup will feature radar fusion integrated into its smart front camera. An additional Parking ECU will be included to manage hands-free parking functions, controlling up to four surround-view cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors. This comprehensive sensor suite provides a complete 360-degree view around the vehicle, a critical component for modern safety systems.
“This new award for Valeo Smart Safety 360 underscores Valeo’s leading position as a comprehensive provider of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems solutions (ADAS),” stated Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo BRAIN Division.
A “One-Stop Shop” Approach
Valeo positions itself as a “one-stop shop” for ADAS technology, offering an integrated package of sensors, software intelligence, and engineering services. This approach simplifies the development process for manufacturers, helping to accelerate time-to-market and optimize costs. The company leverages extensive experience, having produced over 30 million smart front cameras and 2 billion ultrasonic sensors. To date, the innovative Valeo Smart Safety 360 system has already received eight awards globally, reinforcing its position in the market.
