Uber Technologies, Inc. and Avride have announced a multiyear strategic partnership aimed at integrating Avride’s autonomous delivery robots and vehicles into Uber’s services. This collaboration will initially focus on Uber Eats in select U.S. cities, followed by expanding into autonomous rideshare services. The partnership aims to improve consumer convenience by combining autonomous technology with Uber’s established platforms.
Key Highlights:
- Autonomous delivery robots to be introduced to Uber Eats in Austin, expanding to Dallas and Jersey City later this year.
- Autonomous rideshare services to launch in Dallas next year.
- Partnership to scale Avride’s fleet of delivery robots within Uber Eats to hundreds by 2025.
The partnership will begin with Avride’s sidewalk robots launching in Austin on Uber Eats, with plans to expand to Dallas and Jersey City by the end of the year. The autonomous mobility partnership will extend to rideshare services, starting in Dallas next year, giving consumers the option of having deliveries and rides fulfilled by Avride’s autonomous solutions.
Upon rollout, when users request qualifying services through the Uber Eats or Uber app, they may be offered the option to choose an Avride autonomous delivery robot or vehicle. This effort aims to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs, marking another step forward in the growth of autonomous technology in urban mobility.
Avride brings expertise in both autonomous cars and delivery robots, leveraging shared technologies to provide a seamless solution for diverse urban needs. Its delivery robots are already conducting commercial deliveries in the U.S. and South Korea, while autonomous cars are undergoing public road tests.
Dmitry Polishchuk, CEO of Avride, commented, “We are excited to partner with Uber as we scale our operations and work together to further improve the delivery experience for both consumers and merchants. We plan to expand the total fleet of Avride robots operating within Uber Eats to hundreds in 2025, followed by the launch of our robotaxi service.”
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi added, “Autonomous mobility and delivery hold a ton of promise for consumers and communities. We’re excited to partner with Avride to bring their technology to more people in more places, as they continue to scale.”
