Lotus Robotics and CaoCao Mobility have launched a groundbreaking autonomous driving platform for robotaxis, debuting in China and set for global expansion by Q4 2025. This partnership combines Lotus Robotics’ advanced self-driving technology with CaoCao Mobility’s ride-hailing expertise, offering a fully autonomous, safe, and efficient system. Piloted successfully in Suzhou and Hangzhou, the platform has proven its reliability with over 13,545 km of unmanned driving. The collaboration aims to refine vehicle-road-cloud integration, tackling real-world challenges like pedestrian crossings, while Lotus Robotics scales its innovative solutions worldwide.
Key Highlights:
- Proven Success: The pilot program in China logged 13,545 km of autonomous driving without human intervention, showcasing safety and dependability.
- Global Rollout: Lotus Robotics plans to introduce its high-precision navigation software in Europe and beyond by Q4 2025, pending regional regulations.
- Innovative Tech: Features like Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) and ROBO Soul enable seamless urban and highway driving, smart lane changes, and obstacle avoidance.
Lotus Robotics, a division of the iconic Lotus brand, brings its cutting-edge technology to this venture. Its ROBO Soul software offers up to Level 4 autonomy, allowing vehicles to handle complex tasks like parking and highway navigation with optional human override. This is paired with ROBO Galaxy, a cloud-based system that analyzes data from sensors and roads to enhance fleet efficiency, and ROBO Matrix, which boosts safety through real-time monitoring and AI-driven improvements. Together, these tools form a robust ecosystem for autonomous driving, already integrated into Lotus’ electric vehicles like the Eletre and Emeya.
CaoCao Mobility, backed by Geely Holding, complements this with its extensive ride-hailing network, serving over 35,000 businesses and seven million users across 57 Chinese cities. The partnership’s pilot in Suzhou and Hangzhou marks China’s first fully comprehensive autonomous driving system, featuring unmanned operations and customized vehicles. This success paves the way for broader adoption, with plans to refine the technology further by addressing unpredictable scenarios like pedestrian crossings through vehicle-road-cloud integration.
Looking ahead, Lotus Robotics is expanding globally. Its recent collaboration with Aramco Digital explores robotaxi deployment in the Middle East, while partnerships with brands like Lynk & Co and Farizon Auto highlight its growing influence. Leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS), Lotus ensures data security and compliance across markets. By Q4 2025, its high-precision navigation—capable of U-turns, lane selection, and detours—will reach new regions, adapting to local regulations.
This milestone underscores Lotus Robotics’ mission to deliver safe, scalable autonomous solutions, transforming mobility for businesses and consumers alike. With CaoCao Mobility’s reach and Lotus’ innovation, the future of ride-hailing is driverless—and closer than ever.
