Hesai to Unveil Lidar for L3 Autonomy

Hesai Technology will unveil its new ETX ultra-long-range lidar for L3 autonomous driving at IAA Mobility 2025, showcasing live demonstrations and its FTX solid-state lidar for blind-spot detection.

Hesai Technology, a global leader in lidar solutions, will attend IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Germany, to unveil its latest high-performance sensor. Guided by a mission to make mobility safer and smarter, Hesai is focused on advancing lidar innovation to make cutting-edge sensing technologies a standard feature for every driver. The company will be located at Hall B3 – Booth #A10 from September 9th to 12th.

Key Highlights

  • Hesai will introduce ETX, a new automotive-grade ultra-long-range lidar designed for L3 autonomous driving.
  • The ETX sensor is engineered for behind-the-windshield integration with a compact 32 mm optical window.
  • The company is collaborating with leading windshield manufacturers AGC and Saint-Gobain to advance integration solutions.
  • Hesai will host the industry’s first public look at ETX’s live point cloud.
  • The company will also display FTX, a wide-FOV, fully solid-state lidar for comprehensive blind-spot coverage.

Advanced Lidar for L3 Autonomous Driving

At IAA Mobility 2025, Hesai will officially unveil ETX, its newest ultra-long-range lidar developed specifically for L3 autonomous driving systems. This advanced sensor is powered by Hesai’s proprietary photon vector technology, enabling exceptional performance. A key feature of ETX is its compact design, which includes an optical window of just 32 mm. This small form factor sets a new industry benchmark for behind-the-windshield integration. By placing the lidar behind the windshield, automakers can create safer, more aerodynamic vehicles without compromising on sensing capabilities, accelerating the future of autonomous mobility.

Strategic Collaborations and Live Demonstrations

To bring its behind-the-windshield integration solution closer to reality, Hesai is collaborating with leading European windshield manufacturers AGC and Saint-Gobain. This partnership aims to overcome the technical challenges of integrating sophisticated lidar sensors into vehicle glass seamlessly. Visitors to the Hesai booth will see this exciting solution firsthand and witness the industry’s first-ever public demonstration of the ETX lidar’s live point cloud. This live showcase will offer a real-time view of the sensor’s high-performance data-capturing abilities.

FTX Solid-State Lidar for Blind Spots

In addition to the ETX, Hesai will showcase FTX, the world’s widest-FOV fully solid-state lidar. The FTX sensor is designed to eliminate blind spots and enhance safety in various driving scenarios. It delivers an ultra-wide 180° × 140° field of view, covering areas that traditional sensors often miss. This latest generation of FTX technology more than doubles the resolution of its predecessor while reducing the exposed optical area by 40%. Its capabilities support critical safety functions like precise automated parking and tracking rapidly approaching vehicles from the rear and side, enabling safer lane changes.

Visitors are encouraged to visit the Hesai Technology booth at IAA Mobility 2025 to experience live demonstrations of the ETX and FTX lidar systems and learn more about the future of autonomous mobility.
