CleverSolutions has launched CleverSolutions Autonomous, a standalone company that will operate autonomous vehicle fleets for transport operators, public transit authorities, and private mobility providers, backed by a funding round closed with two of Germany’s largest bus operators. The Berlin-based company is applying operational know-how built over more than a decade running on-demand mobility services to the emerging autonomous fleet market, targeting operators who want to deploy self-driving vehicles without building their own control-center infrastructure. The launch positions CleverSolutions in a part of the AV value chain distinct from vehicle manufacturing or software development: day-to-day fleet operations.
“The car comes from Germany. The software is from Silicon Valley. But the largest share of value creation in autonomous mobility happens neither in the factory nor in the lab, it happens in day-to-day operations, in the control center, in the daily responsibility for the fleet. That’s the gap we identified, and it’s where we want to bring in our more than 15 years of experience in mobility with CleverSolutions Autonomous,” said Bruno Ginnuth, founder of CleverSolutions.

Built on CleverShuttle’s Operating Experience
The team behind CleverSolutions Autonomous built and ran CleverShuttle, one of the first on-demand mobility services in Germany. That work grew into CleverSolutions’ B2B operating model: over the past several years, working alongside public transit operators, the company has run more than 30 on-demand services across Germany. In the process, CleverSolutions developed the processes, control logic, and system architecture that the new autonomous fleet business will draw on.
Bus Operators Provide the Funding
The funding round supporting the launch is led by Autobus Oberbayern and Geldhauser Linien- und Reiseverkehr. Both companies bring decades of experience in local passenger transport and a stated interest in shaping autonomous mobility’s rollout rather than encountering it as an outside disruption.
“We’ve been moving people for more than 135 years, and we’ve always been early adopters of new technology, from the combustion engine to electrification. Autonomous vehicles are the next step. We’re investing in CleverSolutions Autonomous because operational expertise isn’t something you can buy off the shelf,” said Nico Schoenecker, Managing Director of Autobus Oberbayern GmbH.
Martin Geldhauser, Managing Director of the Geldhauser Group, framed the investment in similar terms: “We think in long time horizons. Autonomous mobility will transform transportation. We want to shape this transformation together with a partner who understands how day-to-day operations really work.”
What Comes Next
CleverSolutions Autonomous is positioning itself as an operations layer that transit operators, municipalities, and private mobility providers can plug into rather than building their own fleet management capability from scratch. The company’s pitch rests on the idea that operational competence — running the control center, coordinating maintenance, and managing the fleet day to day — will determine which autonomous mobility ventures succeed, regardless of which vehicle or software stack they run.
