Bosch has introduced a new family of system-on-chips (SoCs) designed to enhance advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in vehicles. These powerful microelectronics integrate key components for radar systems, enabling reliable object recognition and supporting the shift toward automated mobility.
Key Highlights
- Highest Computing Power: The new SoCs offer market-leading performance for advanced object recognition.
- 25 Years of Expertise: Bosch draws on extensive experience in manufacturing semiconductors for radar sensors.
- SAE Level 2+ Support: Enables functions like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and lane change assistance.
- Market Growth: The radar semiconductor market is projected to grow by 12 percent annually, outpacing the overall automotive semiconductor sector.
- AI Integration: Features neural network-based artificial intelligence for distinguishing objects like pedestrians.
Advanced Features for Enhanced Safety
The SX600 and SX601 SoCs incorporate a fully digital phase-locked loop (PLL) that provides precise, flexible signal adjustment. This technology ensures high resolution and long range, even for small or distant objects. With a high dynamic range in the radar receiver, these chips minimize error rates and improve sensitivity.
Bosch manufactures these SoCs using 22 nm RF CMOS technology, allowing full integration at low cost. This results in a range approximately 30 percent greater than conventional sensors. The multi-core subsystem offers ample memory and computing power, with room for future expansions and direct integration of customer functions.

AI and Signal Processing Capabilities
Equipped with a millimeter-wave sensor frontend (mmWave) and a robust digital signal processor, the SoCs support both conventional and AI-based data processing. The high computing power facilitates complex algorithms and neural networks, enabling ADAS systems to reliably identify pedestrians and other road users.
Bosch provides a matching engineering environment to ease the implementation of machine learning applications, making it simpler for automotive customers to adopt these technologies.
Connectivity and Security
Operating in the 77 GHz frequency band, both SoCs include CAN XL and Ethernet interfaces for flexible vehicle integration. Hardware-based security accelerators and data encryption protect against unauthorized access.
The SX600 prioritizes cost efficiency, while the SX601 delivers superior memory and the greatest available computing power. These models are drop-in compatible, simplifying upgrades. Each features four transmitting and four receiving channels, with options for cascading two chips for demanding applications. Samples of the SX601 are available worldwide for development and testing.
Bosch’s Role in Mobility
Bosch’s Mobility sector, its largest business area, focuses on safe, sustainable, and exciting solutions. Key activities include electrification, software and services, semiconductors and sensors, vehicle computers, ADAS, diagnostics, telematics, and aftermarket technology. Innovations like electronic engine management, ESP anti-skid systems, and common-rail diesel technology underscore Bosch’s leadership.
As a global supplier, Bosch employs roughly 418,000 associates and operates in over 60 countries through subsidiaries and partners. The company emphasizes technology, software, and services for cross-domain solutions, aiming to create user-friendly, sustainable products under the motto “Invented for life.”
