WeRide’s WRD 3.0 advanced driver-assistance system scored 102.81 points aboard the Chery Exeed Sterra ES to win the Hefei round of the Second China Urban Intelligent Driving Competition, extending the solution’s record to five consecutive event wins. The autonomous driving technology company announced the result from the competition hosted by D1EV, an electric and intelligent vehicle media platform. WRD 3.0 is a one-stage end-to-end L2++ ADAS solution that WeRide co-developed with Bosch, and the streak makes it the first solution in the competition’s history to take five straight rounds. WeRide reports the result reinforces its position in the L2++ segment, building on the platform’s prior four-win record set at the Wuhu round. Weride
Highlights
- The Chery Exeed Sterra ES with WRD 3.0 took first place at Hefei with 102.81 points, marking WRD 3.0’s fifth consecutive win.
- A second WRD 3.0-powered vehicle, the GAC Aion N60, finished second in the preliminary round — WeRide’s first multi-vehicle entry in a single event.
- The Aion N60 debuted the Qualcomm SA8650 platform and, per WeRide, outperformed all Momenta- and Huawei-powered models by up to 24.95 points in its competition debut.
- WeRide has secured nearly 30 design wins across GAC and Chery brands since early 2026, spanning vehicles priced from roughly USD $14,000 to USD $44,000.
Hefei Round Result
At the Hefei round, the Exeed Sterra ES equipped with WRD 3.0 secured first place with 102.81 points. The event also saw WeRide field two WRD 3.0-powered vehicles in a single competition for the first time, with the Exeed Sterra ES and GAC Aion N60 taking first and second place respectively in the preliminary round.
The Aion N60 entry also marked the debut of the Qualcomm SA8650 compute platform in the competition. WeRide reports the N60 outperformed all Momenta- and Huawei-powered entries by up to 24.95 points in its first appearance.
Architecture and Simulation Stack
WRD 3.0 is built around a one-stage end-to-end architecture, integrating perception and decision-making in a single model rather than treating them as separate pipeline stages. WeRide says the approach is aimed at improving generalization and decision consistency in complex urban scenarios.
The company pairs the architecture with its GENESIS simulation platform, which it uses for closed-loop data iteration and training. WeRide reports the combination supports stable performance across vehicle models and operating conditions.
Cross-Platform Compute Strategy
WRD 3.0 has been adapted across multiple compute platforms, including NVIDIA DRIVE Orin-X and Orin-Y and Qualcomm SA8650. WeRide describes the multi-chip approach as a framework for deployment across different vehicle programs and price tiers.
At Auto China 2026, WeRide announced a strategic partnership with SiEngine, a supplier of automotive-grade chips, that the company says targets cost efficiency and supply chain resilience.
Commercial Adoption
Since early 2026, WeRide has secured nearly 30 design wins across GAC Group brands — including GAC Aion, GAC Trumpchi, and Hyptec — and Chery Group brands including Exeed, Tiggo, Lepas, Omoda, and JAECOO. The company reports the WRD 3.0-equipped lineup now spans from mass-market vehicles priced at approximately USD $14,000 to flagship models around USD $44,000.
WeRide plans to extend its L2++ ADAS business beyond China, targeting Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
