WeRide’s GENESIS world model has won Overall Gen-AI Solution of the Year at the 2026 AI Breakthrough Awards, its second major industry award in 48 hours. The recognition places the autonomous driving company (NASDAQ: WRD) among winners including AMD, Qualcomm, and Dell Technologies. It follows the Simulation Innovation Award that WeRide GENESIS received at the 2026 Automotive Testing Technology International (ATTI) Awards two days earlier.

What Is the WeRide GENESIS World Model?
GENESIS is WeRide’s world model, which the company says connects real-world driving environments with high-fidelity simulation to support the development, training, and deployment of autonomous systems. It is built on four capability layers:
- Physical World Reconstruction — generates pixel-level-fidelity road environments in minutes, including rare, safety-critical long-tail scenarios that are impractical to capture from real-world data alone.
- Physicalized Traffic Interaction — models traffic dynamics such as pedestrian behavior, road surface conditions, occlusion risks, and collision boundaries.
- Causal Reasoning and Inference — models cause-and-effect relationships across traffic participants to support decision-making in dynamic environments.
- Spatiotemporal Prediction — simulates how scenarios evolve across space and time, generating probabilistic outcomes to refine driving strategy.
Compressing the Cost of Simulation
By training and validating systems in large-scale virtual environments, GENESIS can compress millions of kilometers of road testing into days while reducing data collection and annotation costs by more than 75%, according to WeRide. The company frames L4 fully driverless operation as the most rigorous proving ground for a world model’s capabilities.
Global Deployment
WeRide’s autonomous products are deployed in more than 40 cities across 12 countries. Its Robotaxi runs fully driverless commercial operations in Guangzhou and Beijing in China and in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the UAE, with services open to the public in Singapore and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The company said fully driverless public operations will launch in Madrid and Zurich, among other locations.
Moving Into Mass-Market Driver Assistance
The world model also underpins WeRide’s L2++ assisted-driving work. At the Second China Intelligent Driving Competition, a Chery Exeed Sterra ES running WeRide’s one-stage end-to-end ADAS, WRD 3.0, secured six consecutive championships — which WeRide says makes it the first and only vehicle to do so in the event’s history. WRD 3.0 has since secured mass-production design wins across more than 30 vehicle models with automakers including Chery and GAC Group.
