WeRide has been named to Fortune’s 2026 Change the World list, which recognizes 50 companies worldwide for social impact driven by their core business strategies, and the company says it is the only autonomous driving company on this year’s list. WeRide reports that it was selected from a field of approximately 200 companies for the 12th annual list and recognized for its work on transportation safety. The listing is the company’s third, following appearances in 2023 and 2025. Other named honorees this year include Anthropic, BYD, and Alphabet.

The release frames the problem around human error as a leading cause of road accidents worldwide, alongside aging populations and driver shortages that strain transportation systems in many markets. WeRide says its approach is to deploy autonomous driving technology at commercial scale, and it describes its fleet as one of the world’s largest.
Where Is WeRide Running Robotaxis in 2026?
WeRide reports commercial autonomous mobility services across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The company cited these milestones from this year:
- Spain: WeRide and Uber received Spain’s first national permit for Level 4 autonomous passenger vehicles on public roads, with commercial operations expected to begin by the end of 2026.
- Switzerland: The company says it holds Europe’s first fully driverless robotaxi operational permit. It plans to launch public passenger service in the Furttal region as part of the Intelligent Automated Mobility (iamo) pilot with Swiss Transit Lab, SBB, and the cantons of Zurich and Aargau.
- Denmark: A partnership with GreenMobility targets the country’s first commercial autonomous mobility deployment, subject to regulatory approvals. Public service with the GXR is planned for the first half of 2027.
- China: Peak daily orders per vehicle reached 28. In Guangzhou, average daily rides per vehicle rose 24% quarter over quarter to more than 21, supporting 24/7 commercial operations across multiple districts.
- Singapore: WeRide and Grab launched Singapore’s first autonomous public ride service in Punggol in March. As of September 15, 2026, the service had logged more than 68,000 miles (110,000 km) of autonomous driving and served more than 12,000 unique riders.
- Abu Dhabi and Dubai: Fully driverless robotaxi service areas now cover more than 70% of each city’s core urban area. The regional fleet stood at approximately 400 vehicles as of July 31, 2026.
Revenue and Product Momentum
WeRide reported first-half 2026 revenue of $51.0 million, a 73% increase over the prior-year period. Second-quarter revenue reached $34.2 million, up 82% year over year. Overseas revenue grew 154% year over year during the first half.
On the software side, the company launched two Physical AI models this year. WeRide WITT is a cognitive foundation model designed to help autonomous systems learn from complex real-world environments. WeRide GENESIS is a proprietary general-purpose simulation model. WeRide says the two models work together to accelerate autonomous driving development and commercialization.
The company’s driver-assistance business also grew. During the second quarter, WeRide delivered approximately 30,000 units of WRD 3.0, its one-stage end-to-end L2++/L3 solution. It also secured production design wins for more than 30 vehicle models.
