GAC Aion has opened pre-sales for the Aion N60, a compact electric SUV that becomes the first mass-produced passenger vehicle jointly developed with WeRide. The model ships with WeRide Driving (WRD) 3.0, a one-stage end-to-end advanced driver assistance system, standard on every trim. It is also the first mass-production deployment of WeRide’s end-to-end technology on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform.
Highlights
- Aion N60 is the first co-developed passenger vehicle between WeRide and GAC Aion
- WRD 3.0 delivers full-scenario ADAS across urban roads, highways, and parking as standard across the lineup
- Deployment makes WeRide the only autonomy provider with one-stage end-to-end technology in mass production on both NVIDIA Drive and Qualcomm Snapdragon, according to the company
- System trained in WeRide GENESIS, a proprietary simulation platform that integrates physical and generative AI
Full-Scenario ADAS Across Every Trim
WRD 3.0 — formerly marketed as WePilot — provides what WeRide describes as full-scenario, full-function ADAS capabilities. The feature set spans urban roads, highways, parking, and both active and passive safety functions. The Aion N60 carries these capabilities across every variant in the lineup rather than reserving them for higher trims.
According to WeRide, the system handles multi-object intention prediction and full-scenario semantic perception, allowing the vehicle to anticipate road-user behavior in real time. The company says this enables the Aion N60 to adjust speed and trajectory in mixed traffic, dense urban environments, and multi-level interchanges while avoiding overly conservative behavior that can slow everyday driving flow.
Mass Production on Two Compute Platforms
The N60 launch marks WeRide’s first mass-production deployment of one-stage end-to-end technology on Qualcomm Snapdragon silicon. The company previously reached mass production on the NVIDIA Drive platform, which positions WRD as the only one-stage end-to-end ADAS solution shipping on both architectures at scale, WeRide said.
The dual-platform position has strategic significance for supplier selection. Automakers choosing different compute vendors across different vehicle programs can now specify WRD without switching stacks, a factor that tends to matter in global OEM procurement.
WeRide GENESIS Simulation Pipeline
WeRide says the N60’s intelligent driving behavior is shaped not only by road testing but by extensive training in WeRide GENESIS, its proprietary simulation model. The company describes GENESIS as a world model that integrates physical AI with generative AI to produce urban road networks, traffic participants, and rare long-tail scenarios within minutes.
The platform comprises four modules — AI Scenarios, AI Agents, AI Metrics, and AI Diagnostics — spanning scenario generation, algorithm training, evaluation, and root-cause analysis. WeRide claims this pipeline allows the N60 to be validated in simulation environments tens of thousands of times more complex than real-world public roads, covering cases such as vehicle cut-ins, unprotected left turns, pedestrian or cyclist intrusions, road obstructions, and extreme weather events.
Ongoing GAC Partnership
WeRide signaled that this program is the first of several. The company said it will continue working with Aion and other brands across GAC Group to introduce intelligent driving vehicles in additional segments. GAC Group has held a strategic investment position in WeRide since 2021, predating the company’s 2024 Nasdaq listing.
Neither the press release nor today’s pre-sale announcement disclosed specific Snapdragon SoC model numbers, sensor-suite details, or final pricing for the ADAS-equipped N60.
