Ride Volume Accelerates on the Uber Platform
The jump from 60,000 to 100,000 rides happened over a period the company describes only as a few months. Avride frames the compression as evidence of adoption rather than fleet size alone, and says each trip contributes operational data back into its autonomous driving stack.
The company characterizes rider response as positive, though it did not publish satisfaction scores, repeat-ride rates, or any city-level breakdown of the ride total. Dallas is the market Avride names in connection with continued passenger expansion. Its multiyear commercial arrangement with Uber began with sidewalk delivery robots before extending to passenger transport.
Where Do Avride’s Delivery Robots Operate?
Avride’s sidewalk robots are now fulfilling orders across six U.S. cities. Arlington, Virginia, and Miami, Florida, joined the footprint recently. The company did not name the remaining four markets in its milestone update.
The delivery side of the business runs on the same commercial channel as the robotaxi service. Avride positions the two offerings — autonomous vehicles and delivery robots — as a combined integration into Uber’s platform rather than separate deployments.
One Platform for Robotaxis and Sidewalk Robots
Both product lines share a single autonomous technology platform, which the company says lets it learn from commercial operations across multiple vehicle types simultaneously. Avride argues this produces faster iteration and more robust software than testing alone would yield, citing millions of real-world interactions as the validation base.
The underlying engineering problem is the same in both cases, according to the company: building autonomy that behaves predictably enough for people to rely on, whether the vehicle is carrying a passenger through city streets or a meal across a campus. Avride has not published technical detail on which components of the stack are shared between the robot and vehicle platforms.
What Comes Next
Avride says its focus now is expanding passenger service, growing the delivery robot network, and continuing development of its autonomous driving software. The company did not identify new markets, name a target ride volume, or state a timeline for the additional growth it expects before year-end.
Its fleet expansion continues against a broader Texas footprint, where the company’s robotaxi operations have scaled steadily across Austin and Dallas.
