MOIA America and Beep have announced a strategic partnership to deploy autonomous public transit services across multiple U.S. markets, beginning in Orlando. The Volkswagen Group subsidiary will supply its turnkey autonomous mobility platform — purpose-built ID. Buzz vehicles, Mobileye’s self-driving system, and a Mobility-as-a-Service software layer — for deployment by Beep under a plan that targets up to 5,000 vehicles over the next decade. Validation testing with safety operators is already underway in Lake Nona, Florida.

A turnkey stack for transit operators
The deal gives Beep access to what MOIA America describes as an integrated autonomous mobility solution. That package combines the autonomous-ready ID. Buzz vehicle with the Level 4 self-driving system developed by Mobileye, a MaaS software platform for service orchestration, and operator training and enablement services.
Paul DeLong, President of Commercialization at MOIA America, framed the Orlando launch as an expansion step. “Orlando as our next market represents an important step as we work to introduce MOIA America’s autonomous mobility technology through our partners into more U.S. communities,” DeLong said. “Our technology enables Beep to deploy autonomous ride services at scale, designed to integrate into emerging microtransit transportation networks.”
The ID. Buzz AD platform is equipped with a 27-sensor suite — 13 cameras, nine LiDAR units, and five radar sensors — through an expanded LiDAR partnership with Innoviz Technologies announced earlier.
Orlando first, Lake Nona as the validation site
Validation testing of autonomous ID. Buzz vehicles is already running in the Lake Nona community. Beep has operated autonomous shuttle services in Lake Nona since 2019, making it one of the longest-running AV deployment sites in the United States and a natural starting point for the new vehicle platform.
During the initial testing and launch phases, the vehicles will operate with onboard human operators supervising the technology. Passenger rides are expected to begin later in 2026, though neither company disclosed a firm launch date, service-area definition, or fare structure.
Microtransit as the entry point
Beep CEO Kevin Reid positioned the partnership as a scaling of the microtransit category rather than a traditional robotaxi play. “Beep’s strategic partnership with MOIA America unites the core capabilities needed to scale autonomous mobility — purpose-built production vehicles, proven software, and trusted operations,” Reid said. “This collaboration will help redefine microtransit, one of the fastest growing transportation segments.”
The 5,000-vehicle target covers cities, municipalities, public transportation agencies, communities, and large campuses. Beep’s AutonomOS platform, launched in 2023, is designed to orchestrate autonomous fleet operations across multiple vehicle types and is the operational layer under the partnership.
Sascha Meyer, Chief Commercial Officer of Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility, described the agreement as supporting driverless mobility in public transit. “MOIA America’s strategic partnership with Beep in the U.S. marks an important step in supporting microtransit operators and advancing driverless mobility in public transit,” Meyer said.
Outlook
The Orlando launch marks MOIA America’s second disclosed U.S. commercial track, running alongside its Los Angeles deployment with Uber for consumer ride-hailing. The Beep partnership is explicitly oriented toward transit agencies and community operators rather than app-based ride-hailing. Neither company has disclosed capital commitments, vehicle pricing, projected service economics, or the specific municipalities beyond Orlando that are in the deployment pipeline.
