May Mobility, a leader in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, has been honored by Fast Company in its 2024 list of the Most Innovative Companies in the Automotive category. This accolade underscores May Mobility’s influential role in shaping the future of transportation through its advanced business-to-government (B2G) and business-to-business (B2B) strategies and its pioneering Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology.

Key Highlights:

  • Ranked No. 4 in the Automotive Category by Fast Company
  • Pioneering MPDM Technology: Enhances safety and scalability in autonomous driving
  • First Rider-Only Deployment: Launched in Sun City, Arizona
  • Significant Impact: Over 350,000 autonomy-enabled rides provided across multiple locations

May Mobility’s MPDM technology is at the forefront of leveraging decades of artificial intelligence research. It can process countless “what if” scenarios, learning optimal driving strategies tailored to real-time conditions, thereby enhancing safety. This system not only reduces operational costs but also supports the removal of the safety operator, facilitating easier expansion into new markets.

The inclusion of May Mobility in Fast Company’s prestigious list follows the company’s launch of its first Rider-Only deployment in Sun City, Arizona, marking a significant milestone in autonomous public transportation.

Edwin Olson, co-founder and CEO of May Mobility, expressed his vision for the integration of autonomous vehicles into public transit systems. “Our vision is to add autonomous vehicles to public transit systems, helping them out-compete personal car ownership,” Olson said. He emphasized the team’s dedication to making cities more accessible, beautiful, and safe.

By focusing on specific community challenges, May Mobility’s B2G and B2B strategies allow the company to tailor its services effectively. These efforts are crucial in bridging transportation gaps and offering equitable, sustainable mobility solutions.

Fast Company’s editor-in-chief, Brendan Vaughan, highlighted the broader industry trends and innovations. “Our list of the Most Innovative Companies is both a comprehensive look at the innovation economy and a snapshot of the business trends that defined the year,” Vaughan noted. He recognized the significant contributions of AI, the resurgence of live events, and advancements in climate technology.

Since its inception in 2017, May Mobility has expanded its services to include several U.S. cities and Japan, with plans to continue growing its global presence. The company’s continuous innovation and commitment to community collaboration underscore its pivotal role in the evolving landscape of urban transportation.
