Grubhub is extending its collaboration with Avride to pilot autonomous food delivery in Jersey City, marking its first marketplace deployment outside college campuses. The program also represents Wonder’s first foray into robotic delivery, integrating Avride’s AI-powered delivery robots into the Grubhub platform.
Expanding Autonomous Delivery Beyond Campuses
Customers ordering from Wonder’s Jersey City storefront through Grubhub can now choose delivery via Avride’s autonomous robots if their address falls within the service range. The initiative combines Grubhub’s marketplace reach, Wonder’s multi-restaurant model, and Avride’s robotics expertise to enhance urban delivery efficiency.
Wonder’s menu spans more than 20 restaurant concepts — including Alanza, Tejas Barbecue, and Streetbird by Marcus Samuelsson — offering freshly made dishes delivered quickly and free of charge.

Avride’s latest generation of robots features AI-driven navigation, real-time obstacle detection, and a precision-engineered four-wheel chassis capable of near-instant 180-degree turns. These capabilities enable reliable operation in dense urban areas and varied weather conditions, ensuring smooth, efficient deliveries on busy sidewalks.

Grubhub plans to evaluate results from the Jersey City pilot before expanding autonomous delivery to additional U.S. markets, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, speed, and reliability in food delivery.
