West Palm Beach, Florida, is stepping into the future of urban transportation with the launch of a new autonomous vehicle pilot program. This initiative, led by Guident in collaboration with Related Ross, Circuit Transit, and Auve Tech, introduces a 0.9-mile public transit route powered by the MiCa, a fully autonomous electric shuttle. The project aims to enhance urban mobility by offering a safer, more efficient, and eco-friendly transportation solution.
Key Highlights
- Collaboration: Guident, Related Ross, Circuit Transit, Auve Tech, and the City of West Palm Beach unite for this innovative project.
- Technology: The MiCa, a Level 4 autonomous shuttle, navigates urban environments without human intervention.
- Goals: Collect data, improve safety, and advance sustainable transit options.
- Impact: Aims to reduce congestion, enhance accessibility, and influence future urban transportation standards.

This pilot marks a significant advancement in integrating autonomous technology into public transit. The MiCa shuttle, developed by Auve Tech, operates at Level 4 autonomy, meaning it can handle complex urban settings independently using advanced sensors and software. Already proven in Europe and Asia, its U.S. debut in West Palm Beach is a milestone for autonomous vehicle adoption.
Jessica Keller, West Palm Beach Transportation and Mobility Manager, emphasized, “The City of West Palm Beach is pleased to be the site for this urban transportation pilot that will showcase innovation in tackling evolving transportation challenges.” Similarly, Harald Braun, Chairman and CEO of Guident, noted, “Launching the MiCa pilot in West Palm Beach represents a significant leap forward in autonomous technology.”
Related Ross focuses on creating pedestrian-friendly urban spaces. Jordan Rathlev, Executive Senior Vice President, stated, “Integrating mobility solutions like the MiCa pilot lays the groundwork for a more vibrant, accessible downtown.” Meanwhile, Alex Esposito, CEO of Circuit Transit, added, “Joining this AV project is a natural and exciting step as we look to continue innovating.”
Residents and visitors can access route maps and real-time updates at WPBgo.com/AV or via the Transit app, enhanced by WPBgo’s Royale access for Palm Beach County riders.
This pilot could pave the way for broader adoption of autonomous transit, reducing environmental impact and improving urban connectivity as cities worldwide seek sustainable solutions.
