WeRide and GreenMobility plan to deploy Level 4 autonomous shared mobility services in Denmark, with public service targeted for the first half of 2027. The agreement makes Denmark the sixth European market for WeRide, the Nasdaq- and Hong Kong-listed autonomous driving developer, following recent entries into Spain and Slovakia. Riders will be matched with the GXR, described by the company as its latest-generation, EU-compliant fully self-driving vehicle, operating within GreenMobility’s shared electric fleet. Both companies note the deployment remains subject to regulatory approvals.

How the Partnership Splits Responsibilities
The arrangement pairs WeRide’s Level 4 autonomous driving stack with GreenMobility’s existing fleet operations and shared mobility infrastructure in Denmark. The companies say the combination makes them the first to pursue commercial autonomous mobility deployment in the country, again subject to regulatory clearance.
WeRide characterizes the structure as an asset-light expansion model built on partnering with local mobility operators and fleet owners rather than building out its own fleets market by market. The company points to the parallel rollout across Spain, Slovakia, and now Denmark as evidence that the approach scales across markets simultaneously.
Why Denmark
According to the two companies, Denmark’s digital infrastructure, premium mobility market, EV adoption rates, and regulatory environment make it a suitable entry point for autonomous services. The stated aim is to support Denmark’s broader smart mobility objectives alongside the commercial deployment itself.
The project will be developed with public sector involvement and in collaboration with the Danish Road Directorate (Vejdirektoratet) and the Danish Road Traffic Authority (Færdselsstyrelsen). All testing and deployment will be conducted under applicable Danish and European Union regulations.
