May Mobility‘s partnership with Lyft is a significant step into the rideshare industry, bringing its innovative approach to autonomous transportation to a wider audience. The collaboration aims to provide new options for riders looking for efficient mobility solutions while leveraging the existing Lyft network. The companies plan to work closely with local communities to ensure the adoption of autonomous vehicles is both smooth and beneficial for all involved.

According to Edwin Olson, co-founder and CEO of May Mobility, “Partnering with Lyft will open up new markets for us to operate in, granting greater mobility to more people, more quickly. We will continue to deliver the valuable service our riders love as we work with Lyft to make our cities better places to live.”

In preparation for the 2025 launch, May Mobility and Lyft will work on planning specifics, such as service areas, hours of operation, and fleet size. The partnership will first deploy vehicles with safety operators and gradually transition to full autonomous, driver-out operations over time. The aim is to expand May Mobility’s AV fleet across Lyft’s network in multiple cities, enhancing the overall ride-sharing experience.

Jeremy Bird, EVP at Lyft, added, “We’re excited to welcome May Mobility as a new autonomous partner. Riders in Atlanta will soon find taking an autonomous ride with May Mobility as simple and intuitive as any other Lyft mode. At Lyft, we’re making it simple for partners to plug their assets into our network and take advantage of our marketplace engine.”

Each vehicle from May Mobility is equipped with patented Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology, designed to leverage in-situ AI for real-time interpretation of driving conditions. This technology helps create a safer, more comfortable ride, continuously learning and adapting to new and unpredictable situations.
