Kodiak AI has secured a U.S. Marine Corps contract to integrate its autonomous driving system into a military ground vehicle platform. The Mountain View, California-based company will deploy its Kodiak Driver into the Marines’ Remotely Operated Ground Unit for Expeditionary Fires (ROGUE-Fires) carrier, a platform designed for distributed maritime operations and expeditionary force projection across contested terrain in the Indo-Pacific.

Kodiak Driver Integration With ROGUE-Fires
The integration aims to help the Marine Corps evaluate how autonomous operations can extend operational reach, improve tempo, and reduce risk to personnel during high-end expeditionary missions. Kodiak plans to demonstrate the maturity and modularity of its system by leveraging its existing software stack and hardware interfaces rather than building a purpose-built military solution.
Kodiak Founder and CEO Don Burnette described the Kodiak Driver as a dual-use capability that applies physical AI to strengthen defense readiness. He said the company has extensively tested its autonomous system in prior military engagements and views the Marine Corps work as an opportunity to showcase performance in unstructured and unmapped environments.
Defense Sector Track Record
The Marine Corps contract extends Kodiak’s growing relationship with the U.S. defense sector. In 2022, the United States Army selected the company for a three-year contract to deliver an end-to-end autonomous solution for the Robotic Combat Vehicle program. That engagement was valued at approximately $30 million.
Through the Army contract, Kodiak completed real-world testing across multiple challenging environments:
