Hyundai Motor Group unveiled MobED, its first mass-produced mobility robot platform, today at the International Robot Exhibition (iREX) 2025 in Tokyo. Developed by the Group’s Robotics LAB, this platform utilizes artificial intelligence to provide fully autonomous capabilities for various industrial applications.
Highlights
- MobED features a unique eccentric mechanism for precise posture control on uneven terrain.
- Two models, Pro and Basic, are scheduled for sales beginning in the first half of 2026.
- The platform supports diverse use cases ranging from logistics and delivery to video production.
Engineering and Adaptive Mobility
MobED utilizes proprietary Drive-and-Lift (DnL) modules that integrate driving, steering, and posture control into a single system. An eccentric mechanism actively stabilizes the platform by dynamically adjusting its height and angle.
This design allows the robot to navigate irregular surfaces and inclined terrain effectively. The system ensures stability while crossing obstacles like curbs or moving through narrow indoor spaces.
The robot features a design that blends straight lines with flowing curves to balance structural integrity with aesthetic refinement. High-quality metals are used to ensure durability and precise movement.

Autonomous Capabilities
The MobED platform employs a fusion of LiDAR and camera sensors for real-time environmental perception. AI-powered detection systems facilitate predictive navigation and obstacle avoidance in crowded or confined environments.
Users operate the device through a wide touchscreen controller featuring a 3D interface. This system supports essential functions such as self-mapping, location designation, and autonomous driving.
Available Configurations
Hyundai offers the platform in two distinct configurations to suit different industrial needs. These models allow users to select the level of autonomy required for their specific operations.
- MobED Pro: Designed for commercial use, this model features full autonomous navigation, LiDAR-camera fusion, and a “follow-me” mode.
- MobED Basic: This version serves as a research and development foundation, allowing users to build custom applications without pre-installed autonomy features.

Technical Specifications
The platform delivers robust performance metrics suitable for both indoor and outdoor operations. The modular design supports universal mounting rails for easy integration of attachments.
- Top Speed: Up to 2.8 m/s (approx. 10 kph) in optimized postures.
- Battery: 1.47 kWh capacity providing over 4 hours of operation.
- Payload: Up to 47 kg for the Pro model and 57 kg for the Basic model.
- Dimensions: Approximately 750mm x 1150mm with variable height adjustments.
Launch Details
Mass production for MobED is scheduled to commence in the first half of 2026. Hyundai is demonstrating the unit’s capabilities at iREX 2025 through December 6.
Demonstrations at the event include loading, delivery, and urban mobility applications. The Group is also hosting a technical seminar regarding the platform’s hybrid design during the exhibition.
