WeRide and Uber have announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership, aiming to bring autonomous vehicles to 15 additional cities worldwide over the next five years. This expansion includes cities in Europe and marks a major step in making autonomous mobility a global reality.

The partnership, which has already seen success in Abu Dhabi and is set to launch in Dubai soon, will now extend to several new cities each year, all outside the United States and China. In these cities, users will be able to access WeRide’s Robotaxi services directly through the Uber app, with Uber managing the fleet operations.
Tony Han, founder and CEO of WeRide, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, “Expanding into new cities across multiple continents reflects both companies’ confidence in our technology and our shared commitment to innovative, sustainable transportation solutions.” He added that this move aligns with WeRide’s strategy to make autonomous driving more affordable and accessible worldwide.
Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying, “Today’s announcement is a significant milestone towards realizing the promise of autonomous mobility in more places around the world.” He emphasized Uber’s role in leveraging its global scale and operational expertise to help commercialize autonomous vehicles.
WeRide is a leader in autonomous driving technology, operating in over 30 cities across 10 countries, and holds driverless permits in several nations, including China, the UAE, Singapore, France, and the US. Uber, known for its global mobility and delivery platform, has facilitated over 58 billion trips since its inception in 2010.
This expanded partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing autonomous technology and making it a part of everyday transportation solutions globally.
