WeRide Robobus Serves Roland-Garros Again

The Robobus service at Roland-Garros, one of the world’s most significant sporting events, showcases the practical application of autonomous vehicle technology. The shuttle operates daily from May 25 to June 8, 2025, covering a 2.8-kilometer route in approximately 12 minutes. It connects key locations such as Avenue de la Porte d’Auteuil, Place de la Porte d’Auteuil, P1 Parking Carrefour des Anciens Combattants, and the Village de Roland Garros. Daytime services run from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The newly added night service operates from 10:00 p.m. to midnight, effectively navigating low-light urban conditions with unpredictable vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The return of the Robobus service highlights the robust partnership between WeRide and Renault. Tony Han, founder and CEO of WeRide, stated, “The return of our Robobus service for a second year not only reinforces confidence in our technology but proves its readiness for the real world.” He emphasized that Europe is a key market in WeRide’s global expansion plans, noting the company’s autonomous products are licensed in five markets, including France.

Patrick Vergelas, Autonomous Mobility Project Manager of Renault Group, remarked, “These autonomous electric minibuses and shuttles embody our vision of safe, smoother, more efficient, and more sustainable new public transport… we are seeing that [society] already is [ready for autonomous public transport].”

WeRide Robobus Serves Roland-Garros Again

This collaboration extends beyond Roland-Garros. In March, WeRide and Renault launched Europe’s first fully driverless commercial Robobus deployment in France’s Drôme region. This service began operations on March 10 at the Rovaltain business park – Valence TGV station. During the same period, the companies conducted a Robobus trial service in central Barcelona, their first Level-4 autonomous vehicle test for public transport in Spain.

The WeRide Robobus is distinguished as the world’s first pre-designed autonomous driving minibus intended for large-scale commercial deployment. Powered by WeRide’s full-stack, self-developed autonomous driving system, it supports low-carbon transportation solutions. The Robobus currently operates in nearly 30 cities worldwide, including locations in Singapore, Switzerland, France, and China. WeRide’s technology has achieved autonomous driving permits in China, the UAE, Singapore, France, and the United States, underscoring its global leadership in the autonomous driving sector.
