A Closer Look at the Robobus Service
The robobus route starts at Meidong Road Terminal in Yuexiu District and loops back after 55 minutes. Along the way, it passes famous spots like Dongjun Plaza and Yuexiu Bridge. Each bus fits six passengers and runs every evening from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are affordable at 10 RMB, and there’s a 50% discount during the trial period. Riders can pay with the Yang Cheng Tong card or mobile apps.
Since 2022, WeRide has tested robobuses on open roads, building three years of solid experience. In December 2023, they snagged China’s first commercial robobus license in Guangzhou’s Huangpu District. Now, they’re taking it downtown.
Going Global
WeRide isn’t stopping at China. In February 2025, they launched Europe’s first fully driverless robobus service in France’s Drôme region with partners like Renault Group. They also operate in places like Singapore and Japan, serving over 30 cities in 10 countries. With permits in the US, UAE, and beyond, WeRide is a global player in autonomous tech.
This Guangzhou launch sets a new bar for driverless public transit, making the future of mobility feel closer than ever.
