Waymo’s operations in Los Angeles have received significant enthusiasm from locals since commercial operations began earlier this year. The company reported that nearly 300,000 people signed up for the waitlist, and those eager early adopters have now completed hundreds of thousands of paid rides, giving the service an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars. 98% of surveyed riders expressed satisfaction, and 96% highlighted the usefulness of the service.

Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO of Waymo, stated, “Now is an exciting time to welcome everyone in Los Angeles along for the ride. Our service has matured quickly, and our riders are embracing the many benefits of fully autonomous driving. We’re so grateful to all of our first riders in LA, and we can’t wait to serve more riders soon.”

The service currently covers nearly 80 square miles of LA County, and Waymo plans to further expand its coverage in the coming months. This expansion aims to replicate the successful scaling of Waymo’s services in other cities like San Francisco and Phoenix.

Embracing Convenience and Collaboration

Waymo One’s Los Angeles riders have enthusiastically embraced the freedom and convenience offered by the fully autonomous rides. The Waymo Driver allows passengers to reclaim valuable time previously lost to traffic. Whether it’s using the time to prepare for an audition, create social media content, or simply relax, Waymo has integrated seamlessly into the daily lives of Angelenos.

Waymo has also been working closely with community organizations that share its commitment to improving road safety and making mobility accessible. One such partner is She is Hope, a nonprofit focused on empowering single mothers in Los Angeles. The organization’s founder, Tisha Janigan, shared her positive experience, stating, “Riding with Waymo was an incredible experience—smooth, safe, and truly impressive. Access to Waymo could be a game-changer for the women we serve, offering a nonjudgmental, reliable transportation option that prioritizes safety.”

Waymo is also the Official Ride-Hail Partner of the Los Angeles Auto Show. Attendees of the show, running from November 22 to December 1, are encouraged to explore and learn more about the benefits of autonomous driving.

To experience the future of driving in Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Phoenix, simply download the Waymo One app and book a ride today. Waymo is eager to show more people the benefits of fully autonomous driving and continues to expand its presence across major cities.
