Waymo has announced a new transit credit pilot program in Los Angeles to mark Transit Equity Day, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and accessible transportation. The initiative, running from February 4 to April 1, 2025, offers riders a $3.00 credit when they connect to any of Waymo’s eight eligible transit stations, helping to enhance first/last-mile connectivity and support public transit use. This move follows a successful pilot in San Francisco, aiming to bridge the gap between autonomous ride-hailing and public transit.
Key Highlights:
- $3.00 ride credit for riders connecting to select transit stations, applied the next day and valid for 60 days.
- The program is designed to help Los Angeles travelers reach key locations, including Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
- Waymo will use the pilot to study transit integration trends, improving accessibility and sustainability efforts.
- The company operates a zero-emission ride-hailing fleet powered by renewable energy, preventing over 220 tons of carbon emissions weekly.
- Waymo’s shared mobility model promotes walking, biking, public transit, and all-electric autonomous rides as cleaner transportation alternatives.
With over 150,000 paid rides weekly, Waymo continues to align with climate action goals in cities where it operates. New riders can download the Waymo One app to take advantage of this program. More details on Waymo’s sustainability initiatives are available at waymo.com/sustainability.
