Arbe Robotics Ltd., a global leader in perception radar technology, and its Tier 1 partner HiRain Technologies, have announced a breakthrough in the development of an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) for a Chinese automobile manufacturer. Using a radar and camera fusion system, HiRain’s new ADAS will eliminate the need for LiDAR, while maintaining the same level of quality and performance. Serial production is expected by Q4 2025, pending final approval from the automaker.

Arbe’s LRR610 Imaging Radar, developed on their advanced chipset, is key to the initiative, offering ultra-high resolution and optimized sensor fusion. HiRain’s extensive data collection initiative is proving the system’s reliability, with 1 million kilometers covered using radar-equipped vehicles.

Key Highlights:

  • ADAS system integrates radar and camera fusion, removing the need for LiDAR while maintaining high functionality.
  • Serial production slated for Q4 2025, pending approval from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
  • HiRain’s data collection initiative covers 1 million kilometers using Arbe’s LRR610 Imaging Radars.
  • Arbe’s LRR610 radar technology features a 48×48 channel array, delivering ultra-high resolution and dense point cloud imaging.
  • The collaboration aims to provide an affordable and safe alternative to current sensor systems, enhancing global automotive safety.

Arbe’s chipset, which powers HiRain’s radar, features an industry-leading 48 transmitting (Tx) and 48 receiving (Rx) channels. This technology creates a highly detailed imaging system, providing radar performance that rivals other traditional sensors. According to Chengjian Fan, CTO of HiRain Technologies, “Our recent data collection initiative has shown the optimization of both sensor fusion and perception, further enhancing the capabilities of imaging radar and making advanced ADAS systems more affordable.”

This collaboration marks a significant step toward increasing safety and reducing costs in the automotive industry, offering manufacturers a reliable alternative to LiDAR. “HiRain Technologies and Arbe are working together to transform global automotive safety,” said Kobi Marenko, CEO of Arbe.
