Texas Instruments (TI) has unveiled a groundbreaking portfolio of automotive chips designed to enhance vehicle safety and autonomy. These innovations, including lidar, clock, and radar solutions, empower automakers to integrate advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) across a broader range of vehicles. By improving real-time decision-making, reliability, and detection capabilities, TI’s chips pave the way for safer, more automated driving experiences.
Key Highlights:
- Lidar Laser Driver: The LMH13000 offers ultra-fast 800ps rise time, enabling 30% longer distance measurements than competitors.
- BAW-Based Clocks: The CDC6C-Q1 oscillator and LMK3H0102-Q1/LMK3C0105-Q1 clock generators are 100 times more reliable than quartz-based clocks.
- mmWave Radar Sensor: The AWR2944P enhances front and corner radar with improved range, accuracy, and AI processing.
- Cost and Size Efficiency: The LMH13000 reduces system costs by 30% and solution size by four times.
- Availability: Preproduction quantities are available now, with more options expected in 2026.
The LMH13000, the industry’s first integrated high-speed lidar laser driver, delivers precise 3D mapping for real-time obstacle detection. Its compact design eliminates bulky components, cutting costs and enabling discreet mounting across vehicle models. With 5A adjustable output and minimal variation across extreme temperatures, it ensures compliance with FDA eye safety standards, addressing a critical challenge in high-output lidar systems.
TI’s BAW-based clocks redefine ADAS reliability. The CDC6C-Q1 and LMK3H0102-Q1/LMK3C0105-Q1 withstand harsh conditions like temperature fluctuations and vibrations, offering 0.3 failure-in-time rate—a 100-fold improvement over quartz clocks. This ensures cleaner data communication and faster processing for next-generation vehicle systems.
The AWR2944P radar sensor builds on TI’s proven platform, enhancing detection range and angular accuracy. With a better signal-to-noise ratio, larger memory, and integrated AI accelerators, it supports advanced radar functions for safer navigation.
Available for preproduction purchase on TI.com, these chips reflect TI’s commitment to affordable, reliable semiconductor solutions. By enabling precise, robust ADAS, TI is helping automakers accelerate toward a collision-free future.
