Moove, a leader in mobility solutions, has partnered with Waymo, a global pioneer in autonomous driving technology, to manage Waymo’s fully autonomous fleet in a groundbreaking collaboration. This partnership marks the first commercial fleet collaboration for Waymo on the Waymo One app and aims to transform urban mobility starting in Phoenix in 2025 and later expanding to Miami in 2026.

Key Highlights:

  • Moove will manage fleet operations, facilities, and charging infrastructure for Waymo.
  • Waymo One service will continue to operate autonomously, with Waymo retaining responsibility for the Waymo Driver technology.
  • The partnership aims to provide safe, seamless trips and improve scalability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Moove will continue to offer its Drive-to-Own (DTO) product to support underserved mobility entrepreneurs in emerging markets.

Under the agreement, Moove will take responsibility for managing and dispatching Waymo’s autonomous fleet while ensuring operational infrastructure like facilities and charging are up to standard. Starting in Phoenix in 2025 and expanding to Miami in 2026, this partnership represents a pivotal development in the implementation of fully electric autonomous vehicles in urban settings. Waymo will continue offering the service through its app and remain in charge of the Waymo Driver technology, ensuring safe, efficient driving experiences.

Ryan McNamara, Vice President of Operations at Waymo, said: “We are excited to partner with Moove in Phoenix and later Miami, bringing together their mobility-focused fleet management experience with our growing Waymo One service. Together, we will provide safe, seamless trips for riders, and scale faster and more cost-effectively over time, with safety continuing to lead the way.”

Despite expanding into autonomous vehicle management, Moove remains focused on its flagship Drive-to-Own (DTO) product. The DTO initiative aims to democratize access to vehicle ownership for underserved mobility entrepreneurs, offering a pathway for economic growth and empowerment.

Autonomous vehicles have the potential to dramatically transform urban transportation, addressing traditional issues like inefficiencies, safety concerns, and environmental impact. As noted by the World Health Organization, road traffic crashes are a leading cause of death worldwide, with approximately 1.19 million fatalities annually. Shared AV solutions like those offered by Waymo and Moove promise to reduce urban congestion, improve safety, and make cities more sustainable.

Moove’s expertise in fleet management will allow Waymo to concentrate on developing its advanced Waymo Driver technology, delivering safe and reliable experiences for riders. This collaboration also aligns with Moove’s mission to make mobility accessible while fostering sustainability and creating job opportunities globally.

Ladi Delano, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of Moove, commented: “Ride hailing has transformed urban mobility over the past 15 years, yet the core experience has largely remained unchanged. Waymo’s safe, reliable, and convenient Waymo One service leads in autonomous technology, and together, we’re driving a major shift in urban mobility. We’re proud to partner with Waymo, bringing our operational expertise to make this transformation possible.

“We understand that mobility isn’t a ‘one size fits all’. While we’re expanding into AVs in the U.S., we remain deeply committed to serving our customers around the world where we will continue to provide our unique financing solutions to underserved mobility entrepreneurs.”

Moove’s expansion into the U.S. market is part of its broader strategy to create the world’s largest fleet of mobility vehicles with best-in-class technology. The company, which has benefitted from strategic partnerships and investments, including Uber’s participation in their Series B funding in 2024, has grown rapidly. Today, Moove operates in 12 markets across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, supporting over 30,000 mobility entrepreneurs globally and completing more than 50 million trips with Moove-financed vehicles.
