May Mobility, a leader in autonomous vehicle (AV) technology, has partnered with Tecnobus, a European electric minibus manufacturer, to introduce a high-capacity autonomous electric minibus. The collaboration was announced at CES 2025, highlighting May Mobility’s commitment to addressing transportation gaps globally. The new platform expands May Mobility’s portfolio, offering enhanced flexibility for fleet operators and transit agencies across domestic and international markets.

Key Highlights

  • Capacity and Accessibility: Seats up to 30 passengers and includes wheelchair accessibility.
  • Scalability: Ideal for urban transit, corporate campuses, airports, and planned communities.
  • Global Reach: Certified for use in the U.S., Europe, and Canada, opening new markets.
  • Sustainability: Fully electric design with swappable batteries to minimize downtime and energy waste.
  • Performance: Operates at speeds up to 45 MPH.

Tecnobus CEO Paolo Marini emphasized the collaboration’s importance, stating, “This new platform represents a significant evolution, perfectly aligned with the values of sustainability, reliability, and vision that Tecnobus has upheld for over 30 years.”

May Mobility plans to deploy the autonomous minibuses in 2026, leveraging its patented Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology. MPDM utilizes real-time AI to adapt to complex driving conditions, enhancing safety and efficiency. This marks the company’s fifth unique vehicle platform, joining the Toyota Sienna Autono-MaaS in serving diverse mobility use cases.

Expanding International Presence

The partnership with Tecnobus and its parent company, ICAPGROUP, positions May Mobility for global growth. ICAPGROUP’s infrastructure spans 27 countries with over 1,200 sites, supporting May Mobility’s mission to expand access to autonomous transportation.

CEO Edwin Olson remarked, “Our partnership with Tecnobus shows that we’re serious about expanding transit access and reducing urban congestion. It’s a strong example of how doing the right thing for communities can also be great for growing our business.”
