May Mobility has officially launched its first commercial driver-out autonomous transportation service in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. This marks the company’s third driverless operation in the U.S., following successful deployments in Sun City, Arizona, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. The service, operating in collaboration with Curiosity Lab, T-Mobile, and the City of Peachtree Corners, will provide fully autonomous rides along a designated route, with no safety driver behind the wheel.
Key Highlights:
- First commercial driver-out autonomous service in the U.S.
- Operates in Peachtree Corners’ smart city environment, leveraging T-Mobile’s 5G network.
- Eight designated stops along Technology Parkway, serving offices, retail shops, hotels, and city landmarks.
- Powered by May Mobility’s patented Multi-Policy Decision Making (MPDM) technology, enabling real-time AI-driven decision-making.
- Rides available Monday through Friday, 9:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M., with a maximum of five passengers per vehicle.
- Booking available via the May Mobility app, powered by Via.
Advancing Autonomous Mobility
May Mobility’s MPDM technology continuously adapts to complex driving conditions, solving challenges associated with real-world unpredictability. “Peachtree Corners will be our third driverless operation, and we are excited to debut our first publicly available driverless service,” said Edwin Olson, CEO of May Mobility.
The service, initially launched with safety drivers in September 2024, has now transitioned to full autonomy. The Curiosity Lab smart city ecosystem, which includes a 5G-connected autonomous vehicle lane, has helped May Mobility fine-tune its driver-out operations.
“This will continue to be important as we work toward expanding the route towards Town Center,” said Brian Johnson, City Manager of Peachtree Corners.
Future Expansion Plans
May Mobility has plans to expand operations within metro Atlanta in partnership with Lyft later this year. Additional U.S. driverless deployments are expected in 2025. The company also recently announced a collaboration with Tecnobus to introduce an autonomous electric minibus seating up to 30 passengers, including wheelchair accessibility.
May Mobility continues to drive innovation in autonomous mobility, with its technology already deployed across 18 locations worldwide and over 400,000 completed rides.
