On August 28, JIDU Auto introduced its new V2.0 software during the “Evolution: AI Reshaping Intelligent Driving” conference in Chengdu. The software, set to debut on the JIDU 07 model, integrates Baidu Apollo‘s Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities, offering a pure vision technology for advanced intelligent driving—a first in China and one of only two worldwide. This update cements JIDU Auto’s leadership in the industry, with significant advancements in intelligent driving and smart cockpit technology.

JIDU Auto’s V2.0 software is the most comprehensive update for the company’s models, with enhancements spanning across over a dozen key modules. The software upgrade introduces significant improvements, including end-to-end large-scale model smart driving, a large-scale model smart cockpit, and intelligent vehicle connectivity. By transitioning from PPA intelligent driving to Apollo Self Driving (ASD), JIDU Auto has taken a crucial step towards the era of end-to-end large-scale models, making it the first global smart EV brand to implement Baidu Apollo ADFM—a Level 4 autonomous driving model.
“This marks a significant achievement as Level 4 autonomous driving technology is integrated into consumer cars for the first time,” stated Joe Xia, CEO of JIDU Auto. “Thanks to the deep integration between Baidu’s ADFM and JIDU Auto, this is the world’s first large-scale autonomous driving model supporting fully unmanned driving applications.”
2024 promises to be a breakthrough year for intelligent driving technology, as it becomes increasingly critical in consumer vehicle choices. While Tesla’s one-stage approach to intelligent driving has its challenges, JIDU Auto’s ASD technology takes a two-stage end-to-end approach. This method allows for safer and more stable system design, optimized for the specific conditions of Chinese roads.
Wang Liang, Chair of Baidu Intelligent Driving Group Technical Committee, emphasized, “The potential of intelligent driving technology is full of surprises. Using a one-stage model to address the lower bound challenges is more difficult, requiring an exceptionally large amount of data and exponential growth, compared to the two-stage model.”
The V2.0 software represents a significant leap forward, combining pure vision technology with end-to-end large-scale models. By leveraging Baidu Apollo ADFM, JIDU Auto’s ASD achieves a balance between safety and generalizability, ensuring optimal performance across a range of high-speed and complex urban scenarios.
JIDU Auto’s smart cockpit has also undergone a major upgrade, now featuring the industry’s first native AI large-scale model cockpit.
