Innoviz Wins OEM LiDAR Development Deal

Innoviz Technologies, a premier Tier-1 supplier of automotive-grade LiDAR and perception software, has announced a significant development agreement with a top-five global passenger automotive manufacturer. The company has signed a Statement of Development Work (SoDW) to provide its advanced LiDAR units for the automaker’s Level 3 (L3) highly automated series-production program. This collaboration will equip the manufacturer’s next-generation vehicles with sophisticated autonomous capabilities, targeting a start of production (SOP) in 2027.

Key Highlights

  • Partnership: Innoviz has secured a development agreement with a top 5 passenger automotive manufacturer.
  • Technology: The program will utilize the InnovizTwo high-performance LiDAR sensor and accompanying perception software.
  • Application: The technology is intended for an L3 highly automated driving system, designed to support next-generation “eyes-off” driving features.
  • Timeline: The projected start of production (SOP) is 2027, with initial development activities scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025.

The Path to Series Production

Under the new agreement, Innoviz will begin developing customized hardware and software modifications for its InnovizTwo LiDAR starting in Q2 2025. This phase is critical for ensuring the technology integrates seamlessly into the automaker’s vehicle platform. To maintain the project’s timeline, Innoviz will supply several hundred InnovizTwo LiDAR units over the next few months. These units will support a large-scale data collection campaign as both companies work toward a final series production agreement.

Enabling Next-Generation Autonomous Driving

This partnership directly supports the development of the OEM’s advanced “eyes-off” driving system, a key feature of L3 autonomous technology. Omer Keilaf, CEO and Co-Founder of Innoviz Technologies, called the agreement “an exciting step forward for the industry.” He emphasized that the growing trend of mass-market manufacturers adopting highly automated driving solutions shows an increasing demand for LiDAR that meets the industry’s most rigorous technical and safety standards.

The collaboration reinforces Innoviz’s standing as a preferred technology partner for global OEMs looking to advance their autonomous driving capabilities. The InnovizTwo LiDAR platform is engineered to deliver superior resolution, range, and reliability, offering a scalable solution for high-volume consumer vehicle programs. As a global leader in LiDAR technology, Innoviz continues to work with internationally recognized car brands to help create a future with safer autonomous vehicles.
