BEIJING – Horizon Robotics, a Chinese provider of energy-efficient computing solutions for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and Guangzhou Automotive Group (GAC) AION, a leading Chinese premium electric vehicle (EV) brand, have announced a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two companies will jointly develop advanced driving assistance products that bring a safer and more convenient experience for drivers and passengers.
AION will develop market-leading car models powered by Horizon Robotics’ solutions, featuring advanced automated driving and interactive in-cabin functions. With shipments of over 2 million Journey series units across various automotive brands in China, Horizon Robotics will support AION in meeting consumer demand for high-quality mobility. Both partners will explore the feasibility of cooperation on the development of the Journey series solutions, including Journey 5.
The automotive industry is undergoing a global transformation and AION, as a pioneer in the EV sector, has already achieved strong growth with total sales in 2022 reaching 271,000, a 126% increase from the previous year. The two companies have a strong collaboration history, with the AION Y model powered by Journey 2 solutions becoming one of the top-selling car models in China.
This expanded partnership expands the collaboration from in-cabin applications to driving assistance products. Horizon Robotics will provide its integrated software and hardware solutions, flexible open services, and experience in mass production to enable AION’s rapid innovation. Both parties are committed to bringing advanced driver-assistance functions to more consumers in China for an elevated driving experience.
