Gatik, a leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics, has reached a significant milestone in its mission to deploy driverless trucks at scale in 2025. The company recently completed two critical phases of its Safety Assessment Framework: the Safety Case Evaluation and Functional Safety. These phases were independently validated by TÜV SÜD, a globally respected organization specializing in safety assurance for autonomous systems. This achievement underscores Gatik’s commitment to safety and transparency as it prepares to launch Freight-Only (driverless) commercial operations.

Gatik’s Safety Assessment Framework is a detailed system designed to ensure the safety of its autonomous vehicles. It includes over 700 safety portfolios, covering areas like organizational safety culture, engineering quality, cybersecurity, vehicle safety, and compliance with standards such as UL4600. The Safety Case Evaluation and Functional Safety phases focus on identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to address them, ensuring the technology is ready for real-world use.
Unlike many in the industry that rely on self-certification, Gatik chose an independent review by TÜV SÜD. This third-party validation enhances credibility and provides transparency to stakeholders, including regulators and the public. TÜV SÜD’s assessment confirms that Gatik’s approach aligns with its Autonomous Vehicle Conformity Framework, a globally recognized standard for autonomous system safety.
