ZF and Aidrivers have agreed to a strategic cooperation aimed at enhancing autonomous mobility solutions in port logistics. This collaboration will focus on retrofitting terminal tractors for autonomous operations and integrating advanced driving systems to improve efficiency and safety in major ports worldwide.
Key Highlights:
- Collaboration Goals: Enhance autonomous mobility in port logistics.
- Key Focus: Retrofitting terminal tractors for autonomous operations.
- ZF’s Role: Engineering partner for AD/ADAS integration, validation, and deployment.
- Aidrivers’ Role: Supply of autonomous driving (AD) software ecosystem.
- Benefits: Enhanced terminal safety and efficiency using advanced autonomous technologies.
In major ports around the world, there is a growing need for autonomous goods handling. The vehicles in these ports, which operate around the clock, have largely been manually operated. This collaboration aims to address this need by leveraging the strengths of both companies.
Building on their complementary portfolios, AI-enabled autonomous mobility company Aidrivers will focus within the cooperation on supplying an autonomous driving (AD) software ecosystem. Meanwhile, ZF Mobility Solutions will act as the engineering partner responsible for integration, validation, and deployment. The converted vehicles can operate in mixed traffic conditions without requiring special lanes, providing port operators with enhanced terminal safety and efficiency through modern advanced autonomous technologies.
Alexander Makowski, Head of ZF Mobility Solutions, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Based on our long-term expertise in autonomous driving systems, we are delighted to now also operate successfully on the market as mobility solutions provider. In addition, we will leverage the ZF Group’s entire expertise in vehicle technology, for example in the electrification of the drivetrain and vehicle motion control. And together with our global aftermarket organization, we will provide state-of-the-art customer service directly on site.”
Dr. Rafiq Swash, CEO of Aidrivers, added: “We are proud to have won ZF as a global partner with expertise in the field of autonomous driving in a wide range of applications, from passenger cars and commercial vehicles to special vehicles. This is the perfect match for us as a small, innovative solution provider for autonomous driving in ports and logistics areas.”
This strategic cooperation between ZF and Aidrivers marks a significant step forward in the deployment of autonomous mobility solutions in port logistics, promising to revolutionize the efficiency and safety of goods handling in major ports around the world.
