PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh-based autonomous vehicle company Aurora Innovation, Inc. has announced the appointment of Ossa Fisher as the new President of the company. Fisher brings a wealth of experience to the role, with over 20 years in leadership positions across technology organizations, encompassing operations, strategy and business functions.
As Aurora gears up for its commercial launch in 2024, Fisher will play a critical role in scaling operations and advancing key initiatives. She joins the company from Istation, where she served as President and COO for the past four years, overseeing functions such as engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success. Before this, Fisher held several senior positions at the e-learning platform, including two years as Chief Marketing Officer. She has also worked as SVP of Strategy and Analytics at Match Group and was a Partner at Bain & Company, leading the technology, media, and telecom practice.
Fisher will report directly to Chris Urmson, Co-Founder and CEO of Aurora. Speaking about her appointment, Fisher said, “Aurora is poised to deliver an autonomous trucking product that will define the industry, and I’m honored to be part of the journey.” Urmson added, “Ossa’s experience and leadership will help us unlock efficiencies and strengthen our existing partnerships as we prepare for commercial launch.”
Fisher will be based in Dallas, near Aurora’s current vehicle operations center. Over the past two years, the company has rapidly expanded its team in Dallas, growing from 20 employees in 2020 to over 120 by the end of 2022. As Aurora continues to expand deliveries and shipments for pilot customers between Dallas and Houston, as well as between Fort Worth and El Paso, Fisher is well placed to support these critical initiatives.
