Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI) is shifting its focus from automotive proving ground automation to concentrate on autonomous solutions in off-road markets such as agriculture, construction, landscaping, and logistics. This strategic move follows the divestiture of ASI Mining, which has provided the capital to significantly expand customer deployments in these key areas. ASI will leverage its Automotive team’s expertise in simulation, test automation, and tool development to enhance its offerings in these new sectors.

Key Highlights:

  • ASI is transitioning its focus from automotive to off-road markets.
  • The company will leverage its Automotive team’s expertise to enhance its offerings in agriculture, construction, landscaping, and logistics.
  • This strategic shift follows the divestiture of ASI Mining, which has provided the capital to significantly expand customer deployments.
  • ASI’s CEO, Mel Torrie, stated that the decision to exit the automotive business, while difficult, will allow the company to better address labor shortages and optimize fleet autonomy in other industries.

ASI, a global leader in large fleet autonomy, has a long history of supporting the world’s leading automotive OEMs—including Ford, Chrysler, GM, and Toyota—in automating their proving grounds for testing vehicle durability and the robustness of advancing levels of driver assistance autonomy. However, the company has decided to wind down its automotive business to redirect vital human and capital resources.

“With the sale of ASI Mining, we can now focus on accelerating the deployments of this large fleet optimization autonomy into our other markets,” said Mel Torrie, CEO of ASI. “Leveraging the tools and expertise we developed for the leading OEMs will maximize our ability to scale to help with our customers’ severe labor shortages.”

ASI is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for its automotive customers, including the completion of final unit sales and ongoing support. The company believes that this strategic shift will allow it to better address the growing demand for autonomous solutions in off-road markets and help its customers overcome the challenges of labor shortages and fleet optimization.
