Inyo Mobility, a leader in autonomous urban transportation, has partnered with Aeva, a pioneer in next-generation sensing systems, to equip its upcoming autonomous shuttle fleet with Aeva’s advanced 4D LiDAR technology. This collaboration aims to enhance safety and efficiency in urban mobility by integrating Aeva’s Atlas™ 4D LiDAR into Inyo’s electric, modular Inyo CAB vehicles, designed for sustainable last-mile transport across Europe.
Key Highlights:
- Exclusive Partnership: Inyo Mobility has selected Aeva as its sole LiDAR supplier for its autonomous shuttle program.
- Advanced Technology: Aeva’s 4D LiDAR uses Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology, providing simultaneous 3D position and instant velocity data.
- Enhanced Safety: The technology distinguishes between static and dynamic objects, detecting pedestrians and vehicles up to 500 meters away, even in challenging weather.
- Urban Mobility Focus: Inyo’s customizable, compact vehicles offer barrier-free access and support both passenger and cargo transport.
- Seamless Integration: Aeva’s compact sensors provide a 360-degree view, ensuring reliable operation in complex city environments.
Aeva’s 4D LiDAR stands out for its ability to measure instant velocity alongside 3D positioning, enabling vehicles to navigate dynamic urban settings with precision. Unlike traditional LiDAR, Aeva’s sensors are immune to interference from sunlight or other LiDAR systems, making them ideal for diverse conditions. This technology supports Inyo’s mission to deliver safe, cost-efficient, and sustainable transport solutions tailored to modern cities.
Inyo’s CEO, Marcus Zwick, emphasized the partnership’s impact, stating, “Aeva’s compact sensors will provide our vehicles with a comprehensive understanding of their surroundings, enabling safer autonomous operation.” Similarly, Aeva’s James Byun highlighted the alignment with Inyo’s vision, noting their shared commitment to advancing urban mobility.
This collaboration marks a significant step toward reliable autonomous public transportation, offering cities a scalable, eco-friendly solution for the future.
